Brubey (Wanzhi) Hu (b. 1994) is currently a MFA candidate in Studio Art at University of Waterloo. She holds Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) with major in General Fine Arts and concentrations in Graphic Design and Book Arts. She works mostly with but not limited to painting, with interests in Architecture, Dualism, and color theory. Originally born in Xiamen China, she moved to Vancouver Canada in 2011 for high school, and then to United States for undergrad. Hu's work has been exhibited in Baltimore MD, Miami FL, and Cleveland OH. In 2018, Hu participated in BAiR Emerging Visual and Digital Arts Residency at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. She has professional experience in both art and design, including internships at Current Space Gallery, Exit10 Advertising, and Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts (BOPA) in Baltimore, MD.
